5 Crazy Things That Happen Only in India
All the countries have their own list of crazy things which are done only there. If you will explore the streets of “THE INCREDIBLE INDIA”, you will easily find “hard-to-miss” things that are a part of our daily lives , like:
1. PEOPLE PUTTING UP PHOTOS OR WRITING DOWN AARTIS TO PREVENT PUBLIC URINATION
Nothing can stop an Indian from urinating or defecating in public when he has to answer the call of the nature. Its a fact of life in India that people cant stop spraying the walls with their water cannons which some of them even think is auspicious since it has been practiced since a very long time. This is where the Hindu gods come to play an important role: stopping people from continuing their hazardous crazy practices when government schemes work to no avail. The use of the god tiles is not only to prevent this malpractice. It is also to prevent the unavoidable and ugly habit of spitting large amounts of saliva mixed with chewed “gutka” wherever they feel like. We can only hope, that the use of god tiles turn out to be effective in the long run.
2. ITS CONSIDERED A GOOD PRACTICE IF YOU ARE HONKING WHEN OVERTAKING A TRUCK
Behind most of the trucks in India, one can easily see the words “HORN O K PLEASE” or “BLOW HORN” encouraging the vehicles behind them to use their horns as a means to signal the truck when they are about to pass by. “But their are side view mirrors for that!” you say? They are almost non existent in India. Either the vehicles are so close to each other that the mirrors take up too much space or they are folded shut to avoid any collision with any other vehicle/driver. This is a problem about which Indians need to be educated if we are to hope for eradicating it.
3. PEOPLE ARE ARRESTED FOR POSTING/LIKING FACEBOOK STATUSES
Yes we know it is crazy. There have been a couple of instances when people have been arrested because they put up a status on facebook leading to their and their friend’s (who liked the status) arrest by the government. It had caused a public outrage on the denial of freedom of speech.
4. NUMEROUS CHILDREN WORK IN RAT-HOLE COAL MINES
Children as young as 11 years old are made to work in the rat hole coal mines whose caves are considered too small for an adult to enter. They live in constant fear of the 2 feet tall roofs collapsing on their heads when they are working. Even after working for 12 hours a day, they get only 200 rupees ($4). Although child labour is illegal in India, there are no strict measures to curb practices like these.
5. POWER OUTAGESCAUSE MILLIONS OF PEOPLE TO LOSE POWER
Its common for power cuts to happen in India which sometimes leads to serious damages across the country. For example once, 700 million people were left without electricity, which accounted for 20 of the 28 states in India. Hundreds of trains failed, passengers were stranded along thousands of miles of track, traffic lights stopped working, causing massive traffic jams and hundreds of miners were trapped underground when their lifts broke down.
